Curriculum Vision

At HOSM, we want every child to enjoy learning, feel valued, and be ready for the future. We have chosen to use the Oak National Academy Curriculum to ensure every child receives a coherent, research backed, high-quality education that meets national expectations and supports progression from Early Years through to Key Stage 2.

Our curriculum is shaped by our school values:

Teamwork – Learning to work well with others and support one another.

Resilience – Trying our best, even when things are difficult.

Ambition – Aiming high and believing in ourselves.

Consideration – Thinking about others and showing respect.

Kindness – Being caring, inclusive, and thoughtful every day

The curriculum is taught with:

·       Carefully Sequenced Lessons: Knowledge and skills are built in small, logical steps, allowing children to revisit and build on prior learning.

·       Whole-Child Focus: While academic achievement is a priority, we also support children's social, emotional, and moral development through daily interactions and our values-led approach.

·       Inclusive Practice: Lessons are adapted to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND or EAL, ensuring every child can access and enjoy the curriculum.

Teamwork is modelled and taught through group tasks, class discussions, and shared responsibilities.

Resilience is developed through problem-solving, learning from mistakes, and celebrating perseverance.

Ambition is encouraged through goal-setting, feedback, and celebrating success.

Consideration is explored through stories, assemblies, and class discussions around empathy and respect

Kindness is embedded in our behaviour expectations and celebrated in day-to-day interactions.
