RE at Holme-upon-Spalding Moor Primary School
At Holme upon Spalding Moor, the aim of Religious Education is to ensure that all pupils develop an increased understanding of the diverse world in which they live in, and the impact this diversity can have on individuals and society. Learning about different religions and beliefs, through the three lenses of Theology, Philosophy and Social Sciences, we will encourage the children to ask questions about the different concepts, about the influence of religions and beliefs on individuals, cultures and communities, and to question the morals and ethics and what it means to be human.
Religious Education is taught to reflect the overall aims, values, and philosophy of the school. It plays an important role with many other curriculum areas, particularly PSHE, in promoting the understanding of Modern British Values and the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of the children of HOSM. We follow the East Riding of Yorkshire locally agreed syllabus. Information about the specific units of study can be found by clicking on the link below.

The Right to Withdraw
If you wish to withdraw your child from Religious Education, you have the right to do so. However, please contact the school to discuss this with Mr Blount. Together, we will carefully consider if this is the best choice for your child. Studying RE & Worldviews is both intellectually stimulating and personally rewarding. It helps pupils understand diverse beliefs, fostering wellbeing, ethical values, and happiness. It also reduces misconceptions and religious discrimination, promoting a more tolerant and cohesive community.
